The Mayor's Column

The Mayor's Column                                           updated 2-22-12

After traveling to Jefferson City and meeting with the Department of Natural Resources, it became apparent that we will be able to work with the Department on addressing the issues regarding the sewer system.  Keith Herzberg and Frank Davis are compiling the data needed, and Dave Needles and I will see that the Department is kept abreast of our work to shore up the sewer system.

In the coming weeks, we will have placed a proposed ordinance for a conditional use permit before the Planning & Zoning Committee as well as the Board of Aldermen.  I will keep you informed of the outcome.

As I said before in a previous column, the weather has been accommodating.  However, as I write this on Feb 10, 2012, I note that a cold front is approaching; thus, tomorrow I travel to Phoenix for a few days.

On a Personal Note:
The last time I read the Constitution it provided for the separation of church and state.  Sadly, that concept has been eroded by many in the Federal Government.

Sincerely,

Howard Chamberlin, Mayor
