Pay Your Sewer Bill with Automatic Bank Draft Residents of Lake Lotawana on the city’s sewer system can now pay their monthly sewer bill by authorizing the city to withdraw the amount of their monthly sewer bill from their bank account. The fee for this service is 40 cents per withdrawal. The city’s Board of Aldermen approved this payment option on May 18, 2010. Here is how the Automatic Bank Draft works: The homeowner must fill out an Automatic Bank Draft Authorization form at city hall, or mail in the one below, see link, and attach a voided check. The application will give the city authorization to withdraw the amount due from the bank account from which the sewer bill will be paid. An invoice will be sent to the homeowner to verify the amount withdrawn (including the 40 cent service charge). The process, once set up, gives residents an alternative choice in how they pay their monthly sewer bill. Some residents already use their bank’s on-line banking service, another payment alternative. If residents express an interest, the city will explore an on-line service that offers payment via credit card. |

| We get a lot of questions about the sewer bill. We hope this information will help you understand what it pays for and a little bit about our system that we maintain. It is the City's largest expenditure! The city operates its own sewer system and is responsible for the gravity and force main sewer lines to approximately 1,200 customers. This includes locates, keeping appropriate flow and odor control on an as needed basis. We currently have 24 lift stations to maintain and a 300,000 gallon per day sewer treatment plant. The sewer system costs the City approximately $1.5 million per year to operate. Dividing such a large number for the sewer system operation by the approximate 1,200 homes, gives you the breakdown of each sewer bill that is listed in the paragraph below. Our sewer bills are sent out by the 10th of each month, with the last day of the month being the due date. Your total sewer bill will consist of two charges, which are listed on your bill, a base rate of $78.12 and your usage amount, which is $6.37 per 1,000 gallons of water used (this is based off of the prior months water usage). If you do not use at least 500 gallons of water, you will have a third charge, a hydration fee of $11.25. Because a small portion (20%) of the sewer bill is based on water usage, the amount of your bill could vary each month. If you are a new resident or renter, please visit City Hall to get your account information updated or submit the form below to us so that your sewer bills can be delivered to you in a timely manner.
